The story of Saint Nick has been passed down on throughout the generations in my family. I was told the story of him by my mother when I was a little girl. It has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember to celebrate St. Nicholas Day/Night. We would place our shoes by the hearth or by the door on the night of December 5th for St. Nick to leave little gifts and candy for the children to receive on December 6th. I have been keeping this tradition alive in our little family (Ryan and I) and plan to continue to do this with our children.
